Meet Anna!

Anna was born and raised in Annapolis, MD. Following her graduation from The Key School she attended the University of Georgia, earning a degree in Human Development and Family Science.

After working for a non-profit to bring dental care to schools serving low-income families, Anna began work as a nanny for a family with a newborn. The family welcomed two more babies in the following years and Anna nannied the children full-time until all three were in school. She continues their part-time care in addition to her current doula work.

In the last five years, Anna has enjoyed working for Chesapeake Birth and Baby as both a trained and certified postpartum doula and a trained and certified labor and delivery doula. She especially enjoys overnight care of newborns and helping families adjust to new routines.

In her free time Anna loves cooking and baking, spending time with her cats, and gardening with her husband.

Meet Angela!

Angela Bender, is a Maryland native and has spent the majority of her life living in Anne Arundel county and currently resides in the Crownsville/Annapolis area.

When she is not assisting a birthing person or talking about pregnancy, birth and postpartum experiences with others, you may find her in the garden, at the climbing gym, or taking her toddler out to local parks, aquariums, library or out in nature.

Angela discovered her passion for doula service when her sister asked her to be present at the birth of her first (then later her second). It was a surreal and incredible experience for Angela, and the supportive role that she gave came far more naturally than anticipated. She was honored to be a part of such a unique and beautiful experience. She realized it was something she would like to do for others. Soon after she pursued a doula certification and started supporting other families.

“ It was fantastic to step into the supportive role after doing an incredible amount of self-learning and training. I love that I am able to share my passion for research and my experience with others who will, hopefully, benefit from my presence during their own labors.”

In her past career she worked in the environmental field. Fulfilled rolls as a naturalist, a forestry tech, a fisheries program administrator and more. She has always cared deeply for nature, the environment and the Chesapeake Bay.
